BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide consisting of 15 amino acids. It was originally isolated from human gastric juice by Dr. Predrag Sikiric and his research team at the University of Zagreb in the early 1990s. The peptide is a partial sequence of a naturally occurring protein called BPC, which is found in human stomach acid at very low concentrations. Over 150 peer-reviewed papers have been published on BPC-157 since its discovery, making it one of the most studied research peptides available. For Research Use Only.

Published research on BPC-157 has focused primarily on tissue repair and regeneration. Studies in animal models have investigated its effects on tendon healing, ligament repair, muscle recovery, bone fracture healing, and gut mucosal protection. Researchers have also explored its interactions with the nitric oxide (NO) system, growth factor pathways (including VEGF and EGF receptors), and the dopaminergic system. A 2024 systematic review in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research compiled findings across dozens of preclinical studies. No large-scale human clinical trials have been completed to date.

Research-grade BPC-157 should test at 98% purity or higher by HPLC analysis. For publication-quality work, 99%+ purity is standard. When evaluating a supplier, look for a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) that includes both HPLC chromatography (which measures purity percentage) and mass spectrometry data (which confirms molecular identity). HPLC alone cannot verify that the compound is actually BPC-157. It only tells you how pure the sample is. Mass spec confirms you have the right molecule. Lyophilized (freeze-dried) BPC-157 should be stored at -20C (-4F) for maximum stability, where it remains viable for 24+ months. It can also be stored refrigerated at 2-8C (36-46F) for shorter periods. Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water, store the vial refrigerated at 2-8C and use within 3-4 weeks. Never freeze a reconstituted solution. Keep all vials away from direct light and avoid repeated temperature fluctuations.

To reconstitute BPC-157, slowly introduce bacteriostatic water along the inner wall of the vial. Do not inject the water directly onto the lyophilized powder, and never shake the vial. Allow the peptide to dissolve on its own. This typically takes 1-2 minutes. For a 5mg vial, adding 2mL of bacteriostatic water yields a concentration of 2.5mg/mL. For a 10mg vial with 2mL, the concentration is 5mg/mL. Store reconstituted vials upright in the refrigerator.

BPC-157 is not FDA-approved for any medical use in the United States. WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) has prohibited it under the S0 category (unapproved substances) since 2022. USADA has also flagged BPC-157 as a prohibited peptide. It is legal to purchase as a research chemical for laboratory and in vitro research purposes. It is not classified as a controlled substance.

The safety profile of BPC-157 has been evaluated primarily in animal studies. A 2024 systematic review noted that no serious adverse events were reported across the published preclinical literature. The most commonly discussed theoretical concern is BPC-157's pro-angiogenic activity (it promotes blood vessel formation), which has raised questions about whether it could influence tumor growth. No published research has demonstrated a direct link between BPC-157 and cancer development, but the question remains open due to the absence of long-term human data. Researchers should review the available literature carefully before designing protocols.

BPC-157 Acetate is simply BPC-157 bound with an acetate salt, which improves water solubility and stability during storage. The peptide sequence itself is identical. Acetate salt is the standard form used in research because it dissolves more readily in bacteriostatic water. There is no meaningful difference in research applications between the two.
