Selank is a synthetic peptide derived from tuftsin, a naturally occurring tetrapeptide associated with immunoglobulin G (IgG). It was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and has been approved as a pharmaceutical in Russia since 2009. Selank extends tuftsin's sequence with additional amino acids (Pro-Gly-Pro) to improve stability and biological activity.

Published research on Selank has focused on anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) and immunomodulatory effects. Studies in the Russian pharmacological literature have compared its anxiolytic activity to that of benzodiazepines, but without the sedation, cognitive impairment, or dependence potential associated with that drug class.
