How TB-500 Works

TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4) is the principal G-actin sequestering molecule in eukaryotic cells. Its active site LKKTETQ (residues 17-23) drives cell migration and wound healing. The peptide is naturally present in wound fluid at 13 mcg/mL and is active at concentrations as low as 10 picograms. For research use only.

TB-500 is a synthetic fragment of Thymosin Beta-4, a 43-amino-acid peptide that is naturally present in nearly all human and animal cells. Thymosin Beta-4 was first identified in the thymus gland and plays a well-documented role in cell migration, blood vessel formation, and tissue repair. TB-500 replicates the active region of the full-length protein, specifically the actin-binding domain responsible for its regenerative properties. It has been studied in research settings since the 1990s.

TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment that contains the active region of full-length Thymosin Beta-4 (TB4). The full protein is 43 amino acids long. TB-500 isolates the key actin-binding sequence that researchers believe drives most of TB4's regenerative activity. In practice, TB-500 is more widely available and less expensive than full-length TB4 because it is simpler to synthesize. Both are used in research, but TB-500 is the standard in the peptide research market.

Preclinical research on TB-500 and Thymosin Beta-4 has focused on tissue repair, wound healing, and angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation). Published studies have investigated its role in cardiac tissue recovery after ischemic injury, dermal wound closure, corneal healing, and musculoskeletal recovery. The peptide's mechanism centers on its ability to sequester G-actin, which promotes cell migration to injury sites. Research has been conducted in rodent, equine, and canine models.

Yes. Combining BPC-157 and TB-500 is one of the most common research pairings in preclinical peptide studies. The two compounds operate through different mechanisms: BPC-157 primarily works through nitric oxide pathways and growth factor receptor upregulation, while TB-500 works through actin regulation and cell migration. Researchers have explored whether these complementary pathways produce additive or synergistic effects when combined. Kern offers a pre-blended Wolverine Blend for this purpose.

Store lyophilized TB-500 at -20C for long-term stability (24+ months). Reconstitute by slowly adding bacteriostatic water along the vial wall. Do not shake. A typical reconstitution for a 5mg vial uses 1-2mL of bacteriostatic water. Once reconstituted, refrigerate at 2-8C and use within 3-4 weeks. Discard if the solution becomes cloudy or contains visible particles.

Yes. TB-500 and Thymosin Beta-4 are both prohibited by WADA under the S2 category (peptide hormones, growth factors, and related substances). Multiple professional athletes have received suspensions for positive TB-500 tests, particularly in horse racing and Australian football. It is not a controlled substance and is legal to purchase for research purposes.

Every batch undergoes third-party HPLC and mass spectrometry testing. HPLC confirms purity (99%+ standard). Mass spectrometry confirms molecular identity. A batch-specific Certificate of Analysis is provided with every purchase and available for download directly on this page.

All Kern products ship same-day (orders placed before 1pm EST). Lyophilized peptides are shipped at ambient temperature and are stable during transit. Upon receipt, store at -20C for long-term stability or 2-8C for near-term use. If the product arrives damaged, contact us within 7 days with photos for a free replacement.

Price differences usually reflect differences in purity, testing standards, and manufacturing quality. Low-cost vendors may skip mass spectrometry verification (which confirms you actually have the right molecule), use lower-grade raw materials, or skip sterility and endotoxin testing. Kern tests every batch with both HPLC and mass spec, and our CoAs are available before you buy.
